You’re quite right that I still have white privilege and male privilege and always will. My grandkids won’t have white privilege, but it will be a different world for them.

I know a bit of how you feel, since when I’m at our house in the Philippines, I’m the only white guy for miles in any direction…and that’s okay with me. In fact, the only nonwhite friends I have are some that I see two or three times a year. It’s not a matter of deliberate choice, but just how things have worked out.

And I strongly agree that the work to stop racism will never end, not as long as there are people of different races, ethnicities, or any other physical difference. Even then, there would be different cultures and religions and nationalities and languages and accents and political leanings, all subject to the same kind of prejudice. In other words, racism is only a subset of prejudice, and prejudice will be around as long as humans exist. But we must still fight it.
