Your above statement obviates your entire article, and for good reason. You do not have a clue on American politics. To wit:

We on the Left want:

- federal assistance to low-income communities

- Protect Social Security

- Provide asylum for refugees

- Extend minimum wage

- Expand unemployment benefits

- Strengthen labor laws

- Make it easier to join unions

- Make equal pay regardless of sex the law of the land.

- Abortion rights

- LGBTQ rights and equality.

That's SO far to the left, huh? Guess what? Except for the last two on abortion and LGBTQ rights, that's almost an exact copy of the main goals of the 1956 Republican party platform under Eisenhower (the same general who led the invasion of Normandy).

In other words, except for abortion and LGBTQ rights, the Democratic Party is close to what the Republicans were over sixty years ago.

On the other hand, today's American Right supports banning books, a nationwide ban on abortion (with few if any exceptions) up to the point of allowing the government to track pregnant women when they travel to ensure they don't get an abortion. And then there's Trump's promise of mass deportation camps and his plan to remove anyone from any position in federal government who doesn't blindly support his agenda. And that's not even addressing the fact that Trump is an adjudicated rapist and a convicted felon.

Really, which side is extremist, ma'am? If you're going to make bold, sweeping claims about a nation's politics, you should at least first learn what's actually happening in that nation.

Full disclosure: I was once a strong conservative. I'm now a strong lbieral. I do know the difference.
