You completely missed the point, for none of the musical genres today could even be performed — much less popularized — without the foundational factors I listed: the Blues, electronic instruments, mass media, and social upheaval. Note that only one factor in that list is actually a genre of music…and the roots of every major musical genre today (except for classical music) is largely found in the Blues. And the Blues was not “Boomer music” — it predates us Boomers, but it informs almost all the popular music you hear today.
If you want to argue otherwise, go ahead — but as you do so, please show how electronic instruments, mass media, and social upheaval are not crucial to every one of the modern genres you enjoy. I’m eager to hear your reply :)
