Y’know, the opinions of those who are offended at a nonwhite playing Ariel makes sense…to *them*. They’re offended that a nonwhite can play a “traditionally” white role, while whenever a white plays a traditionally nonwhite role, they’re castigated.

But you know what? Anyone who shows such offense needs to get over themselves. If you’re white, you’ve got all the advantages on the planet already. Stop insisting that whites have some kind of right to this or that role. We whites have no such ‘right’.

It would be far better to realize that children’s movies are for CHILDREN…and there’s a LOT more nonwhite children than white children. And every child — white or nonwhite — is just as precious. White children already have the vast majority of role models (in book or film) to look to for inspiration. Wouldn’t it make this world a heck of a lot better if ALL children could read books and watch movies that showed them that heroes come in all colors?
