Yeah, that whole cruise sucked...but you mentioned Lebanon. I remember how the New Jersey was parked next to us at North Island. When that bombing happened, they were at sea for a three-week shakedown cruise, and were suddenly sent to the Med, to patrol the coast of Lebanon and make instant tennis courts on demand.

Instead of just being out for 3 weeks, they were gone for 15 months. I heard that half the marriages on board ended. Morale must have sucked worse than ours ever did.
