Yeah, ‘cause “illegal” immigrants are by definition less human, less capable of great good, and are just no good for America, huh?
I really hope I misunderstood the intent of your response, for this is a bit personal for me. My wife came to America as an “illegal”, worked her a** off (as the great majority of “illegals” do), became a citizen thanks to the Reagan amnesty, and for the past 20-odd years has been a business owner providing jobs for others. She never once went on unemployment or welfare, even as a single mother.
Statistics clearly show that “illegals”, compared to native-born Americans (1) commit significantly less violent crime, (2) pay *more* in taxes than their cost to taxpayers, (3) are significantly *more* likely to start businesses of their own, and (4) significantly more likely to do the jobs that native-born Americans won’t take even with higher pay. Remember that last one when you go to Safeway and see all the fruit and vegetables when they are grown here in America.
Again, I’m sorry if I misunderstood your response…but no human being is illegal…and if we want America to prosper in the coming decades, we should bear in mind that most of these “illegals” carry with them the entrepreneurial mindset that is all too quickly forgotten by those raised to value 9–5 jobs.
