Why Trump Must Not Spend Even One Day in Jail

The newly-unsealed indictment shows Trump has been charged with thirty-eight counts:

  • 1–31 Willful retention of classified national security information
  • 32: Conspiracy to obstruct justice
  • 33 Illegally withholding records
  • 34–35: Illegally concealing documents
  • 36: Conspiracy to conceal
  • 37–38: Making false statements

Inside the indictment was this little gem:

As so many other veterans have noted, if one of us were found guilty of even one of the above-listed charges, we’d be looking at a decade or more in the federal prison at Leavenworth, Kansas. But Trump will never see the inside of that prison, and that is a good thing.

Yes, you read that right. I deeply despise Trump, but it is best for America that he never spend a day in federal prison.

Why? Because it does not matter that he severely damaged our national security, inflamed racial hatred across our nation, kowtowed to dictators and did lasting harm to our alliances. What matters is that he was a president, and as such…
