Why I Made $11K on Medium In The Past Year
Switch to Vocal? Substack? Nah. My secret is this one skill.
As writers, we have to write — we cannot not write. But it’s really nice to get paid for it, right? On Medium, there’s so many stories published on how to produce more effective articles (use better titles/images/grammar, etc.) or how to get paid more (“switch to Vocal/Substack!”), so I’d like to add to the list a factor that has enabled me to have some measure of success on Medium: humility.
If you’re reading this, you know what it’s like to spend countless hours tapping away at a keyboard without any expectation of renumeration. You also know those hours aren’t wasted, but help build skills in research, rhetoric, logic, and presentation. As for myself, however, the most important skill I learned along the way was humility.
