Whenever I hear those of my own demographic - older white men - complain of 'cancel culture', 'affirmative action', 'political correctness' and the like, my first thought is "what, are you afraid of the competition? If there's more competition, then compete harder!"

It reminds me of the white shrimpers in Galveston in the late 1970's - they were SO outraged that Vietnamese refugees had showed up, worked together to buy a boat, and had begun to take away the whites' market share. Instead of upping their own game to better compete, they whined about it and even joined hands with the KKK to stop the Vietnamese. But the Viets won - they simply outcompeted the white shrimpers who had grown fat and lazy, used to only competing with themselves.

James Patterson - and all his like-minded ilk - get no sympathy from me.
