I’ve never liked Bernie Sanders, but if he wins the Democratic nomination, I’ll campaign and vote for him. Don’t get me wrong — I support a lot of the policies he supports, especially when it comes to single-payer healthcare. I don’t support him because he is too hidebound to ideology. He’s not a Democratic version of Trump, but more a Democratic version of Rand Paul, willing to do what’s obviously wrong all in the name of supporting his own ideology. Absolute refusal to compromise is almost never good in politics.

That being said, there are three very big reasons why we should not support Bernie:

I know, I know, Bernie disavowed any help from Russia or anyone else…but that does not matter one whit. What does matter is that Russia’s still doing what they can on social media to build him up and tear Biden down.

Golly gee whiz, now why would Russia and Trump and the GOP all go to such lengths to build up Bernie Sanders while at the same time tearing down Joe Biden?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that they all believe that either Trump can beat Bernie, or that Trump can’t beat Biden, or (more likely) both.

I’m not the biggest fan of Joe Biden. I supported Kamala Harris for president from the day she grilled Kavanaugh, long before she announced her candidacy. I still think she’ll be a great president someday. But Kamala’s not on the ticket, and Joe Biden is. That’s why he’s got my vote.

Retired Navy. Inveterate contrarian. If I haven’t done it, I’ve usually done something close.
