“Vomitory” is still used today. When I visited the Philippine Arena, the world’s largest indoor arena, I saw several signs that said “vomitory”. Most signs in the Philippines are in English (they are taught English beginning in the 1st grade).

So anyway, never having heard of “vomitory”, I looked it up, and yes, it’s just as you described it.
