Unfortunately, Putin has a stranglehold on Russian media - the people are getting only what he wants them to hear.

At one point we used to call their invasion of Afghanistan the 'Soviet Vietnam' for the quagmire it became for them - but then, like now, they did not have the benefit of a free press, so while a small percentage of the population was angry and bitter towards the government, most never knew how bad it was, and just shrugged their shoulders and went back to work.

This time, not only are the people not getting anything close to factual reporting, they're also seeing what they're told are 'terrorist attacks' on Russian cities...which is providing all the more support for Putin's war.

I suspect a coup is the only way Russia's going to be able to stop itself in Ukraine.
