Thing is, your points are spot on only if Deng Xiaoping were still in charge. Do Jinping is much more aggressive, more likely to use armed force.
A side note - you mentioned Lee Kuan Yew. One day in Manila I saw a traffic sign that read “LIKUAN U”. Nearly all traffic signs there are in English, so I asked my brother-in-law what that meant. He said it meant “U-turn”, but they put it in Tagalog because Lee Kuan Yew was due to visit, and apparently some in the public works department want him to turn around and go home.
