- There is no evidence that any money that Russians donated to the Clinton Foundation was used for the Clintons’ personal gain. Compare that to the $2M fine that Trump had to pay for actually using charity funds (for veterans and for children, among others) for his own campaign.
- Concerning the uranium “scandal”, Fox News’ own Shep Smith debunked it on air. Of course this outraged many (perhaps most) Fox viewers since it’s unquestioned dogma among most of the GOP that anything Hillary is accused of MUST be true regardless of a total lack of evidence.
- As of 2015, there were at least EIGHT federal investigations into Benghazi (costing more than the 9/11 investigation did), most of which were led either by House GOP or Senate GOP (and the GOP controlled both chambers, remember). How many Democrats or Obama administration officials were indicted? ZERO. How many convictions? ZERO. In contrast, in the ONE investigation by Special Counsel Mueller, how many indictments were there? Dozens. How many convictions were there? At least five.
Here’s a clue, guy — I was raised a strong conservative. I happily voted for Reagan and Bush Sr. (and Bush Sr. was a better president than most people realize). But Iran-Contra was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me, because the GOP as a whole (backed by Limbaugh and other right-wing talk-radio pundits, and a whole host of right-wing evangelical preachers) were all gleefully lionizing Oliver North for getting away with much-lessened charges after having sold missiles to Iran (which was then ruled by the same guy who directed the takeover of our embassy in Iran). They were laughing — laughing! — at North’s crimes, acting as if what he had done was somehow in the highest tradition of the military. It was obvious then that the party I’d followed all my adult life didn’t give a tinker’s damn about right and wrong and doing what’s right for America, but only cared about money and power.
Want more proof of that? Consider the fact that in George W. Bush’s very first cabinet meeting — almost eight months BEFORE 9/11 — the main topic of conversation was the invasion of Iraq…and which members of Big Oil would get which oil fields. That, sir, puts the lie to Bush’s long-debunked claim that Saddam Hussein was trying to build nukes…and thousands of my fellow American military (and over 100K Iraqi men, women, and children) paid for the Bush administration’s greed with their lives.
In other words, the GOP is on the wrong side of history. If you stand with them, so are you.
