That's a *very* cogent reply, and strongly appreciated. Side note - I'm a strong Christian, but the Church of which I am a member (Iglesia ni Cristo - see incmedia.org) does not agree that Christ is or ever was God, and so we would not consider such a fragment as a holy object at all. We deeply revere His sacrifice as we should, and we acknowledge Him as our Savior and our only Mediator to God, but Jesus Himself is not God.

I included the above because you seem interested in differences in culture, and the Church is certainly different from the protestant faith in which I was raised.
