- That shows how little you know of the Navy. FYI, the Navy is more industrial than military — sure, most of us qualify 9MM, 12-gauge, and sometimes even an M-14, but we *rarely* practice. I got my quals and ribbons for pistol and rifle, but I can count on one hand all the times I went to a firing range on duty over my twenty-year career (with an upright middle finger left over)…and I bore firearms on duty more often than most (except for the Gunners Mates and the Ordies). In the Navy, it could be said the weapons we wield are wrenches, paint brushes, soldering irons, and computer screens — for that’s how we keep our ships afloat, able to launch cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, helicopters, and aircraft. We aren’t soldiers or Marines — we’re sailors.
- I could not care less if you are determined to call it a bullet, a cartridge, or even a doggone Minie ball. Such an argument is every bit as useless as the “you don’t even know what an assault rifle is” screed that gun nuts love to use. The goal, sir, is to stop (or at least minimize) the mass shootings, which are FAR more numerous in America than in any other first-world nation. If you can’t get on board to help work towards *effective* ways to reach that goal, then I have no time for you.
