Thank you for your criticism. The flaw to which I referred is the *fear* that is part and parcel of DFT. I would agree that my article does meander overmuch (again, I do appreciate criticism), but the point is that even if DFT is valid and representative of what passes for interstellar society, the chances that we will meet another spacefaring species is very small indeed, due to the requirement that any such advanced species must be concurrent to our own in addition to being in our particular neck of the galactic woods. That was the reason I went to such lengths to demonstrate just how brief humanity’s rise has been in terms of geological or cosmic time frames. We don’t even qualify as a blink of an eye, and so any other advanced species must exist within that same “blink of an eye”. The likelihood of two such species existing at the same time in the same remote arm of the galaxy is remote indeed. That is why we should not subscribe to the fear that DFT would engender in our rise to the stars.
