I first heard this challenge 50 years ago…and yes, I tried and failed.

Reminds me of the old story of a man who was getting rewarded by his king for some great deed. The king offered whatever was in his power to give, and the guy said, “take a chessboard and place two grains of rice on a corner square. Then place four on the next square, then eight on the next, and so on, doubling every square.” TL:DR, the last square would be 2^64 grains of rice. Once the king realized just how much that was, he had the miscreant executed.
