Okay, I agree with much of what you say in your article. If I may, I’d like to suggest that while it’s good that you give whites guidance as to what we should not say to you, it’s also necessary that you at the same time give us some idea on what we should say or how to say it without causing offense.

As for myself, when I point out how eloquent someone’s writing is, I do so because that person’s command of language (whether in terms of vocabulary, style, tone, rhetoric, what have you) is superior to my own. Your writing contains a level of passion for the subject that I can’t match, so how could I compliment you on that level of passion without falling afoul of the “soft bigotry” which you described?
