No offense, but religious fundamentalists do not always fail. Look at the centuries that the Spanish Inquisition survived until Napoleon put a final stop to it. Look at Ireland, which is only now considering allowing abortions when necessary to save the life of the mother. How many generations had that no-abortion-regardless-of-circumstances been in place before today?
Yes, the world is slowly, slowly changing for the better…but religious fundamentalism has been quite successful indeed for the great majority of human history. Mind you, I say this as a strong member of a Church that would in the eyes of many be quite fundamentalist.
