I've got a lot of respect for China, but I'm no Sinophile. They are capable of great good...and great evil.

Perhaps you should go ask the Uighurs what's happening to them. Or the Tibetans. I asked one, once - in China. I've never seen someone so suddenly frightened by a simple question. They are just as racist as anyone else - including America.

Or you can ask the Taiwanese, or the nations around the South China Sea where China's trying to claim almost all the open water - Google "nine-dash line" sometime. Or look up what they did to their own people during the Cultural Revolution and the Great Leap Forward.

China's about to supplant America as the world's most influential and powerful nation - and that's the way of the world. Nations rise, nations fall. But you know what? I'm glad it's China and NOT Russia.

What I'm saying here is that the Chinese are HUMAN, as human as you and I, meaning that they are subject to the same great good and the same great evil as every other nation.

It's good to be hopeful that China will be better for the world than America has been. If they supplant us (as I believe they will), I hope the same. But not for one moment will I refrain from criticizing them as I do my own nation.
