It’s Time To Offer Putin the “Idi Amin Solution”
How much in taxpayer dollars would you be willing to spend to prevent a nuclear war? And would you be willing to give that entire amount — even if it’s, say, five billion dollars — to one demonstrably evil man, on the condition that wherever he decides to live, that he would never again become involved in politics or power struggles at any level, whether local, national, or international?
Today, for the first time since the fall of the Soviet Union, we face the very real threat of a global thermonuclear exchange. I could say it’s personal to me since my oldest son and his family live not five miles from the #1 target on the planet — a ballistic-missile submarine base. But in reality, this should be personal to all of us, since if the missiles are launched, even if you’re nowhere near a nuclear blast, say bye-bye to electricity, the internet, to your computers and cell phones, to any vehicles that contain circuitry, and so on. You will find out firsthand the accuracy of Einstein’s alleged quote:
“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
To be sure, any nation that sends America back to the pre-industrial era would face a fate at least as terrible, but such vengeance would be cold comfort indeed when one is struggling to feed, clothe, and…
