Italy — you know, where Rome and the Vatican City are — is also having a serious problem with population decline. That’s why there are small towns there selling houses for 1 Euro, and some even pay young couples to come live there.

It’s (mostly) not a matter of abortion and contraception or the lack thereof, but of progress, of women no longer needing to depend upon men, but able to have careers of their own.

America would have the same problem, but thanks to our tradition of immigration, we are avoiding the problems other developed nations are facing with population decline.
