In the Philippines, the largest "ride-share" company is Grab. We've used it often...and we much prefer it to regular taxis.

Why? In one word, safety. When someone picks up my wife, we know who the driver was, and where she was going, and when she arrived there. In a third-world nation, that's worth spending a bit more money.

So while Uber and Lyft may be facing harder times here stateside, over in third-world nations, their business model is much preferred, and for good reason.
