In many schools in Manila, Philippines, there’s essentially two shifts at school, one for the morning, one for the afternoon. Of course six-hour school days would not be sufficient for America (unless we got rid of summer vacation, which I think would be a very good thing), but the point is, there are other nations doing it already.
