I sincerely apologize if that is what you believe I meant, for my intention was just the opposite, that chivalry should be not only preserved, but encouraged. The first two-thirds of my article was on the 'con' side of chivalry, the better to show the other side of the story. It is in the last remaining third that I pointed out that we should condemn the hypocrisy of those who are chivalrous *only* in public.

If that is not what you understood in my article, then the fault is mine for not stating my case clearly enough. And in any case, I sincerely appreciate criticism.
