I quite agree that the ethnic strife has been going on for many generations...but that doesn't mean that Russia and Turkey aren't taking advantage of the local conflict for their own purposes.

Just look at Afghanistan, how the US and the USSR used ethnic divisions there as proxies in the Cold War. Same thing in Vietnam, Angola, Nicaragua...the list goes on. That's why I mentioned how Turkey and Russia were facing off against each other in both Libya and Syria.

The tragedy is that the leaders in Russia and Turkey are only too happy to sell their weapons and watch the people in Nagorno-Karabakh tear each other to shreds, just as America did with the Iran/Iraq war and all our other proxy wars.
