I just wish that every White person I grew up with in the Delta could be forced to sit down and read your article.

But of course, none of them would learn a thing - they'd refuse to learn.

You are absolutely right in everything you said.

On a side note, I've been to quite a few countries, but one I dearly wish I could visit is Iran. I've always been a history nerd, including ancient history, and that's Persia, the land of Cyrus the Great and the Achaemenian empire, of Alexander's attempt to bridge east and west by force, and of the beginning of the Successor States.

We Americans think we have a lot of history here - hah! We're not even three centuries old, and Europeans only landed here five hundred years ago. Iran is filled with sites that are many times older than anything in the Western Hemisphere, and the people there have forgotten more history than we've even learned here.

I just hope that before I pass on, I can have a chance to go there and explore, to walk in the footsteps of Cyrus and Darius and, yes, even Alexander...and hopefully, I could envision what it was like before the advent of the Mongol horde.

Sorry for going off on a tangent there - it's an ADD thing. But I loved your article. Thank you!
