Hi, and welcome to Medium! I’m relatively new myself to this site, though I’m not at all new to online debates.

I don’t believe I used the word “audience” at all in my original article. It was used in a reply by Afroliterati (Carla Bell), and the gist of my reply was that the great majority of all people are good-hearted, well-meaning, and not malicious…and this includes racists. This is why so many of those we accuse of racism are so offended — they believe that they can’t be racist since they don’t feel any malice towards the other race.

I just deleted a long diatribe from this reply to you — I was about to go off on a tangent and did not address your suggestion…and you’re right. That is what I should do if I want to be a more effective writer. I will try to do so, and thank you very much for the compliment!

I read elsewhere on Medium that good writers bleed, whereas poor writers preach. I’m afraid that with my article, I placed myself squarely into the latter group.
