Having been raised the Delta, our house surrounded by two cotton fields and one soybean field, I strongly agree with your article. Almost all modern music has its roots in the juke joints of the Delta. Many’s the time when I’ve listened to music overseas in Asia and thought to myself how it all started in the Delta. I miss living there, but I just can’t stand the thought of ever again living someplace so deeply infested with racism and white supremacy. But I still take a measure of pride knowing the debt the whole world owes to those Bluesmen who offered a few hours of happiness and escape for those having spent a full day working under the hot Delta sun.
