Great article, and it reminded me strongly of an experience my wife and I had last month.
Remember the street food vendor in Singapore that got a Michelin star? He decided to turn it into a chain of restaurants. We saw it at the Mall of Asia in Manila and stood in line to get inside - we soon found out the line was for the restaurant next door (Mang Inasal’s, which serves freaking delicious BBQ chicken).
But I wanted to try the Michelin-starred place. To make a long story shorter, the experience wasn’t as horrifying as your own, but it wasn’t good. *McDonald’s* would have been better.
In other words, I am now not so enamored of that Michelin star.
