“Gratitude is the greatest of virtues, and the parent of all the other virtues.” Cicero said that.
If you’ll think about it, a virtue cannot be true unless it is based in gratitude. For instance, how can one appreciate the charity one gives unless one is grateful for what one has?
I write often about my experiences in the Philippines, and one of the things I’ve noticed is that the people — even the homeless — are happier there. Why? Because they’re more grateful for what they have, even if what they have is much less than what we here in America take for granted.
Truly, gratitude is the greatest of all virtues.
