Good article, but one serious criticism: please try to avoid obvious hyperbole in your title. I grew up in the poorest region of Mississippi - the Delta - and they *are* among the poorest in America...but "some of the poorest kids in the world"? No, not even close. I've traveled the world and have a home in a third-world nation, and let me tell you the kids from that nation would dearly love to trade places with kids in Mississippi. If you had said "some of the poorest kids in the *developed* world", you would have been much more accurate.
So please try to avoid overt hyperbole - it really detracts from the overall effectiveness of your article.
