First off, did you really read the article you included? It doesn’t support your claims nearly as much as you seem to think.
Mainstream media lies. I used to be liberal until I started reading alternative news, and quickly came to realize I’d been deceived..just my perspective. The MSM loves telling people about how conservatives are shrinking. It’s not the case.
Ah. So that’s why the GOP has lost the popular vote five out of the past six general elections, lost the most recent one by nearly 3M votes, lost the midterms (losing 40 seats and leadership of the House in the process) and just this month lost Virginia and even the governorship of Kentucky?
Yeah, you keep on believing that the conservative base isn’t shrinking, that if it isn’t what you want to hear, it must somehow be a lie.
I’m all about real progressive ideals, but the lefts gone bat shit crazy and unfortunately I’ve noticed they are exceedingly close minded, preferring to stay in their echo chambers, which isn’t very difficult because most institutions are run by liberal whack jobs (schools, medical, news).
What do you think of the below political platforms?
- Provide federal assistance to low-income communities;
2. Protect Social Security;
3. Provide asylum for refugees;
4. Extend minimum wage;
5. Improve unemployment benefit system so it covers more people;
6. Strengthen labor laws so workers can more easily join a union;
7. Assure equal pay for equal work regardless of sex.
Those are very liberal, huh? They’re all “bat-s**t” crazy liberal ideas trying to turn America into a socialist hellhole, huh?
Those were part of the 1956 Republican party political platform under a man named Dwight D. Eisenhower. You know, the guy who led our WWII invasion at Normandy. You may have heard of him.
The point is, y’all have gone so far to the right that (if we’re going to use the metaphor of a football field) y’all are out past the endzone, past the locker room, out into the parking lot…so from your current perspective, mainstream policies and ideas that have historically belonged on the 50 yard line now look like insanely far-left ideas.
It’s a bit frustrating because they are very emotionally driven, which is the easiest type of person to manipulate…so one can just put emotionally charged but factually incorrect headlines like “Trump / racist / xenophobic” etc.
So…how, then, are we to consider Trump’s first choice for a senior WH adviser — Steve Bannon — who openly embraced the white nationalism of the alt-right? How are we to consider Stephen Miller whom we now know sent hundreds of emails containing racist claims and tropes to Breitbart?
Of course, if we look at those two facts in conjunction with the fact that Trump was sued by the DOJ — TWICE — for refusing to rent properties to Blacks, things become a lot clearer…especially to someone who knows what it’s like to grow up racist like I did.
Conservatives are demonized daily, so the media to me is the common enemy, since it does a great job of dividing people, and then of course blames it on white nationalists / supremacists or whatever the buzzword of the day might be.
Today’s “conservatives” are not conservative. Y’all are reactionary. Y’all are not standing up for conservative values like the rule of law, standing by our allies, standing against dictatorial tyrannies, or even fiscal caution (or did you miss the fact that Trump has almost doubled the deficit that Obama left him?).
Think back to Eisenhower. No one could call him a far-left loony liberal. Instead, he was closer to being a true conservative than anyone in the GOP leadership today. He was also the last Republican to have a federal budget surplus or even to cut the deficit. To contrast that fact, LBJ and Clinton both had budget surpluses, and Obama (who took over in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Depression) cut the deficit by more than half. Economically speaking, Democratic presidents have shown themselves to be MUCH more economically-conservative than have any Republican presidents from Nixon until today.
And they’ll come for liberals when the time is right too. Just calling it how I see it.
When you want to remember what real conservatism is, let me know…because are called “moderate liberals” today are MUCH closer to real conservatism than anyone in the GOP leadership today.
