Chris, I don't watch CNN or MSNBC. I get my news from all over, local and foreign. Check my Twitter feed and you'll see me having serious discussions with Chinese nationalists and even agreeing with them on some points I feel are valid.
If you're insisting on politicians who are wholly in line with what you expect, then you're going to be waiting a long, long, long time...because none of them ever will be. Even worse, once they are in office, they run up against the necessities of governance e.g. making deals, avoiding verbal land mines, raising enough money to even be competitive in the next election, and so on.
What's more, you're apparently not aware of how much America has changed in the past 50 years, even given the right-wing wackos controlling SCOTUS now. When I was young, Jim Crow had been outlawed but was *still* practiced in Mississippi; the idea that a Black man could ever be president was preposterous; the idea that Lesbians and Gays (nobody even thought about the remaining BTQIA+ letters) might not only be able to legally marry, but ever serve in the military was laughable.
But now look at America - we've changed so very much. Those who are young and addicted to American-style 'instant gratification' might not think so, but from a historical view, a lot of people are probably suffering from societal whiplash.
Please try to gain some historical perspective. It really is like climbing a mountain - it's hard, sweaty, dangerous work that takes too doggone long...but when you stop for a moment and look how far you've come, it's breathtaking.
