As I understand it, M-theory is related to string theory, but instead of eleven-dimensional strings, reality is comprised of membranes - or “branes” for short, and these branes are comprised of two-dimensional sheets.

So if the universe is made of branes which are comprised of two-dimensional sheets…

…then the whole universe has sheet for branes.
